Charlotte's A2 Media

I chose this song because I feel it has potential to create a very abstract music video, and one that could explore many varieties of video direction and effects. The beat expresses its 80’s pop origins; however it does contain some very modern types sounds, such as the minimal techno. It also holds a particular riff the whole way through, providing a very systematic, industrial feel to the song. My idea for this song would be to create abstract, almost robotic, visuals. I would take away the idea of a main singer (as a frontman), and instead have a variety of different people, individual and in groups, to give the impression that they all have one voice. I would have all those involved to be very diverse, from skin colour to location background to costume, in order to represent the universal theme within the song. Throughout I would also include a variety of seemingly random visuals that would have been influenced by Martin Gore in order to incorporate and respect his involvement within the song. Lastly, to create the universal feel, I would have a black and white narrative of a male and female acting out the storyline within the lyrics, slowing it down and adding a black and white wash during editing.
