Song Choice - LadyHawke (Crazy World)

From the album 'LadyHawke'

My last song choice is ‘Crazy World’ by LadyHawke, and my reasons for choosing is due to my group members original interest in it when the initial song choice topic came up. After listening to it, I decided it would prove very valuable if being made into a visual music video, due to having many levels, rhythms and beats throughout. It also is female fronted, and so initially I thought this would advantage us in using one of our members for reliability. However, when coming up with an idea for this song, I decided to incorporate all our members. My idea is to combine a performance piece and an abstract idea. The performance piece would involve a band, with a singer (having a mike as a continuing prop), a drummer (having drumsticks as a continuing prop), and a guitar player (having a guitar as a continuing prop), due to the heavy instrumental involvement that would be interesting to seek visually. The abstract piece would then add a uniqueness and intrigue, due to having the setting consistently changing (eg. From going to being in the middle of the woods for one shot, and then quickly changing to being in the middle of Trafalgar square for another), in which the only continuity would be the band members and their designated prop (highlighting to the fact of adjustment, such as using a tree stump as part of a drum kit). As well as this, due to the song being very upbeat and having a someone what ‘rave’ essence, I would explore on perhaps involving random strobe/coloured lighting, to emphasise the idea of the ‘crazy world’ that the band members are performing in.
