In order to get a greater idea of how to create our music video, we decided to imitate a music video that was already successful. This, we felt, would enable us to not only get a practical experience with angles, direction and camera shots, but it would also enable us to consider creative ideas and give a better understanding towards the technical aspect of the editing equiptment. We then designated seperate segments within the songs to ifferent groups.
The music video we chose was Britney Spears' 'Hit Me Baby One More Time.' At first, I believed this to be a relatively easy task to do due to having the school setting and already having action to follow rather than to come up with it ourselves. However this proved to be fairly difficult as we begin to film.
Due to the video being mostly made up from dance routines, we had to rehearse beforehand, something that proved to be more time consuming than expected. Lip-syncing also proved difficult, and concentration lacked somewhat due to the experience being very comical.
In the end, we simply ran out of time due to lack of planning, and so therefore this has been a great insight into how we must go int creating our actual video. I feel that a serious amount of consideration to preparation is needed the most, creating storyboard, shooting schedules and casting the right people who will trully make an effort in the video.
